Winter Excursions (Nov-Apr)
The Petersville area is widely regarded as Alaska’s top winter recreational destination. From your cabin door, you can ride your snowmachine or GCL rental snowmachine directly to the Peters Hills, Dutch Hills, Denali State Park, and several glaciers, all accessible via over 400 miles of groomed and marked trails. Just a mile from your doorstep, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Denali, Mount Hunter, Mount Foraker, and a sweeping panorama of the entire Alaska Range. With on-site fuel available, nothing stands in the way of your adventure.
For powder riders, there are over a million acres of meadows and frozen swamps perfect for carving up. You can also enjoy thrilling yet safe hill climbing with a short ride into the lower mountains, where avalanches are rare.
Summer Excursions (May-Oct)
Explore the historic and rugged Petersville Road, which boasts over a century of mining history and continues to be home to active gold claims. Embark on a UTV ride through the abandoned Petersville mining camp to discover pristine alpine tundra, hiking trails, and breathtaking panoramic views of Denali and three surrounding mountain ranges. Try your hand at gold panning to uncover hidden treasures, or enjoy the abundant wildlife in the area. Fish at Gate Lake, located right in our backyard and fully stocked by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. You can fish from the dock or paddle around in one of the many watercraft we provide for your enjoyment.

Whether you're planning a wedding, reunion, or retreat, our stunning gardens and lush green lawns with views of Denali provide a beautiful setting for any event. The entire property can be reserved exclusively for your occasion. We can help with all the details, including tables, chairs, tents, cutlery, and more. We visited Gate Creek in the mid-September off-season, 2024, in an effort to see fall colors and the aurora borealis. It did not disappoint! The fall colors were spectacular, but the aurora was even more magnificent. We stayed in the Beaver's Hideaway cabin which was super clean, had 2 bedrooms, a large kitchen, and a large family room. It was on the shore of a small lake. We were able to see and photograph the aurora from the deck outside the cabin. We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet solitude. Talkeetna is a short drive away and we enjoyed the visit, but Gate Creek was a great place to use as our home base and to see the area. Thanks to the hosts for making us feel welcome and making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay!

Gate Creek Cabins was a great central location that allowed us to easily enjoy our itinerary between Talkeetna and Denali. The check-in and check-out process was so easy thanks to our wonderful hostess, Susie. She made sure we had all that we needed (including a fan to help me sleep at night). She was available when we needed her without being intrusive. We enjoyed meeting her and connected well with her. The property is very well maintained with very nice cabins! Large and so clean! The pond and property are beautiful! We had everything we could have needed or wanted and staying at Gate Creek (Beaver's Hideaway) made an amazing trip that much more awesome!

Great experience staying at Gate Creek Cabins in August. I was atving from the cabins and it was wonderful to be able to come back to a well furnished cabin with a full kitchen and shower. I plan to stay here again as Denali is often more clear and visible on early crisp morning and the cabins are perfectly located to explore Petersville and Cache Creek trails.
